It's Official!

In May 2001, Dan Borenstein completed his highly successful term as President of the American Psychiatric Association. Dan served as APA President from 2000-2001, President-Elect from 1999-2000, Vice President from 1997-1999 and as Secretary from 1995-1997. Dan continues serving on the APA Board of Trustees as a voting Past President.

APA Scientific Meetings in 2000 & 2001

The American Psychiatric Association has two scientific meetings each year. During Dan Borenstein's presidency, he selected the themes for the meetings. The theme for APA's Psychiatric Services Meeting in Philadelphia in October 2000 was "Psychodynamic Psychotherapy". This meeting had the second highest attendance in APA history. The theme for APA's Annual Meeting in New Orleans in May 2001 was "Mind Meets Brain: Integrating Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis and Neuroscience". This Annual Meeting had the highest attendance in APA history of over 19,000 registrants. It also generated over $1,000,000 more income than was anticipated.
